Colton McKillop

A full-time musician based in Winnipeg, MB, Colton McKillop writes songs that draw from the heart of the city. Rooted in folk, funk, and rock traditions, his music blends intricate guitar work with evocative storytelling, exploring themes of connection, longing, and the search for meaning in an ever-changing world.

A seasoned live performer, Colton has toured Western Canada several times, performing throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia and building years of experience on stages both at home and on the road. Those tours have taken him well beyond Winnipeg’s music scene and helped shape him into a versatile, road-tested performer equally at home in intimate listening rooms, clubs, and larger live settings.

When he’s not performing his own material, Colton is an active and in-demand guitarist within Winnipeg’s music community. He plays lead guitar in numerous bands, including Sebastian Owl, GLADLY, and Sassy Mellows, lending his signature touch to a wide range of projects across the city’s vibrant music scene. His work as both a songwriter and supporting musician has allowed him to move fluidly between genres and develop a distinctive playing style shaped by years of collaboration, performance, and touring.

Now turning greater attention toward his own songwriting, Colton is preparing for an important new chapter in his career. In 2027, he plans to release professionally recorded original music for the first time, beginning with new material from an upcoming concept album that brings together his songwriting, storytelling, and wide-ranging musical influences. The year will also mark another major milestone as Colton takes his original music abroad for the first time, embarking on his first international tour.
